Fall 2020 Plans

A Message from Karla, Our Head of School

Dear ARISE Community,

Thank you for your patience, perseverance, and engagement during these difficult times. It has been an honor to listen to your ideas, concerns, and work with you to ensure we grow and adapt as a school in order to best serve our students and families in these uncertain times. We will be doing online learning for ALL students for the first semester (August-December). If plans change we will update the entire community immediately.

Current Plans for Fall 2020

Online Learning:

• Online synchronous classes for all students (students are logged in with their class and teachers in real time)

• New and improved online learning platform chosen through research and community input.

On-campus Interactions:

• Any on-campus interactions will adhere to strict CDE guidelines of social distancing/PPE, will implement strict cleaning protocols, and will take place outdoors as much as possible

• If we get off the state monitoring list here then:

  • Optional on-campus in-person classes for certain subgroups of students with IEPs, 504s, ELLs and other students with high needs 

Fall Online Learning Schedule:

• Here is our updated 2020-2021 Calendar (Semester 2 Calendar is still to be determined)

• We have adapted the bell schedule taking into consideration family, student, and staff feedback from surveys and working groups. 

• Bell schedule starts later for students and ends earlier for everyone.

• Teachers will have ~10 additional hours of preparation time compared to last year in order to ensure great instruction, communication, and to honor the fact that online teaching is new and demands more time.

Important Dates

• New to ARISE Students Materials Pick-Up: August 12-14 (see below)

• First Day of Classes: Monday, August 17

• 9th Grade Orientation (online): Monday, August 17 - Tuesday, August 18

Online Learning Schedule

Materials Pick-Up (for NEW students)

New to ARISE Students, please come to ARISE (Suite 205- Main Office) to pick up your computer and materials between 1-4PM by student's last name. Please wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

Nuevos estudiantes de ARISE, vengan a ARISE (Suite 205- Oficina principal) para recoger su computadora y materiales entre la 1 y las 4 de la tarde basado en la primera letra del apellido del estudiante. Por favor usen máscaras y mantengan el distanciamiento social.
