Since 2007, ARISE has prepared students in Fruitvale to be the first in their families to go to college and to bring their knowledge, wisdom, and leadership back home to Oakland. If you feel moved by our mission and vision, we would love to meet you.
Bilingual Whole Building Support
A flexible role for a bilingual educator (English and Spanish) who wants to support every corner of ARISE: classrooms, advisory, Wednesday enrichment, and the front office. You will be coached, part of a grade-level Academic Familia, and a trusted adult for students across the building.
What You Will Do
- Cover long-term teacher leaves and daily substitute needs
- Support or lead an advisory
- Serve as academic mentor support in classrooms
- Teach two enrichment blocks on Wednesdays
- Support operations: front desk coverage, events, and more
- Join bi-weekly coaching and Academic Familia grade-level meetings
- Partner with our Student Support team on academic support
- Help with advisory retreats, college tours, student-led conferences, and exhibition nights
Schedule, Pay, and Benefits
- 11-month employment agreement
- 30 hours a week, up to 40 when covering a parental leave or long-term assignment
- $32 per hour without a credential; $40 per hour with a clear or preliminary single subject credential
- Health benefits: 100% covered for staff, 50% for partners
- Paid federal holidays
- 3% 401(k) match, plus 403(b) and 457(b) options
- Sick time: one hour for every 30 hours worked
What You Bring
- Required: bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
- A bachelor's degree and the ability to obtain an emergency substitute permit
- Preferred: a California teaching credential, or willingness to enroll in a credential program
- Comfort building on an established curriculum, scope, and sequence
- A growth mindset and commitment to a healthy staff culture of professional learners
- Commitment to equity and to the students, families, and community of ARISE

Named for the poet and activist Audre Lorde, Team Audre is a group of ARISE staff, led by Co-Head of School Trevor Gardner, who care for the people who care for our students. The team leads staff culture, joy, and collective care, and is the sister team to Team hooks, which centers student culture.
