Math Placements and Course Sequences
Students who enroll at ARISE have a pathway of three to four years of math. ARISE is committed to both college and career, thus students who are more college bound have the opportunity to take a rigorous sequence of math course (including honors courses) that lead to either precalculus or a dual enrollment calculus course in their senior year. For students who are more career bound, after the introductory two years of math (Algebra 1 and Geometry) there is a Data Science course that explores applications of mathematics and data in our world. Most freshment students go directly into Algebra 1, and then depending on how students perform students can opt into a more advanced track of Integrated Math II. Students who opt for Data Science can take the course in their 3rd or 4th year (before or after Advanced Algebra). Students are able to opt into different math courses depending on the course prerequisiites, student scores (based on NWEA data), student choice and teacher recommendation. The diagram below showcases these different options available to students depending on their college and career goals.
